The Saratoga County incident began around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, when a resident reported their car stolen from the driveway of their Saratoga Springs home.
Officers spotted the vehicle a short time later on Circular Street and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over.
They pursued the car for nearly three miles before the driver lost control and crashed on Jones Road in the town of Wilton. The driver and a passenger then fled on foot but were quickly arrested.
The 17-year-old driver was arrested and turned over to a parent. He was expected to appear in Saratoga County Youth Court at a later date.
Police also arrested the passenger, 20-year-old Richard Capone, on the following charges:
- Grand larceny (felony)
- Obstruction of governmental administration (misdemeanor)
- Conspiracy (misdemeanor)
Capone was later released with an appearance ticket to the City Court of Saratoga Springs.
There were no reports of injuries.
